Christ for the City International (CFCI)
No place without a witness, no church without a vision, and no person without hope.

My sending organization is Christ for the City International.  It is an urban ministry and mission agency that develops city ministry bases.  These bases work together with churches, ministry organizations, businesses, government agencies, and educational resources to serve the cities by engaging and mentoring the Body of Christ to develop ministries and programs that best respond to their city's needs.

The work of the ministry revolves around a three-fold vision mandate:  No place without a witness, no church without a vision, and no person without hope.  Christ for the City International seeks to impact cities for Jesus Christ through community programs, ministry mentoring, and compassionate care through its missionaries, volunteers and staff located in 16 countries around the world.  Over 60% of the 470 workers with CFCI are not North American.

CFCI Costa Rica
There are many different ministries in San Jose, Costa Rica, where I hope to be working.

La Carpio is one of them.  It is a slum built beside one of San Jose's garbage dumps where CFCI has a community center.  They provide food, education, sports programs, arts & crafts programs, Bible studies and much more!  Take a look:

Tirrases
When I was in Costa Rica in March 2015 I worked closely with the Tirrases ministry.  This is a Bible school that allows children to learn about God, read the Bible, and enjoy other activities like crafts, games, singing and snacks.  We also provide English and Math tutoring, helping them to further themselves in their academics as well. Here are a couple of interviews on how Tirrases has impacted the lives of these Mothers:

Renacer
Another ministry is Renacer, literally 'Reborn' in Spanish.  It is a drug rehabilitation centre for teenage girls.  There the girls are given room and board, education, therapy, and Bible classes to help them to overcome their addictions and escape life on the street.
